Battlefield 3's Battlelog system were hacked on December 29, 2012. This attack includes all accounts, passwords and private information for the shooter Battlefield 3 and  Medal of Honor: Warfighter. The hacker also set up several fake information about the alpha of Battlefield 4.

As reported, an online survey was started about the alpha version of Battlefield 4. Thereafter, the hacker posted a link where you could sign up for this alpha, but this link was a phishing website! The developer of the whole Battlelog system, DarkLord7854, said that all passwords, accounts and private information are safe. EA removed this survey short after it appeared.
Nevertheless, if you signed up for the fake alpha version of Battlefield 4, change your passwords to make sure they weren't hacked.

Battlefield 3 - Patch Next Week

Dice and Electronic Arts have announced that Battlefield 3 will be patched next week, on December 6. The patch will be 2 GB big and will already include several content of the first DLC of BF3 called 'Back to Karkand'.

If you're interested, here is a list of all changes including bug fixes and blalancing issues. But beware: The list is very long due to a huge changelog from DICE.

Battlefield 3 - DLC Release Date

The first DLC of Battlefield 3, called 'Back to Karkand', will be released December 6, 2011 for Playstation 3. For PC and Xbox 360 player the expansion pack will be available one week later, December 13.

The pack includes the maps Strike at Karkand, Wake Island, Gulf of Oman, and Sharqui Peninsula. If you've been playing Battlefield 2, you should recognize these maps. They're rebuild for Battlefield 3 so the maps should be known by a lot of players. In addition, ten weapons from BF2 were included in Back To Karkand, as well as four brand new verhicles.

Players who have bought the limited edition of Battlefield 3 can download the DLC at no extra charge. That was one of the main reasons I've bought this edition because for everyone else, the pack will cost around 15 Euro.

Electronic Arts has revealed the number of sales of Battlefield 3 which reached the eight million mark. As a comparison, Modern Warfare 3 sold 6.5 million units on its first day.

This information was given by Eric Brown, the Chief Financial Officer of Electronic Arts, during the Baird Technology Conference in San Francisco yesterday.

Twelve million units were sold to the retailers but 'only' eight million were sold so far. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was sold 6.5 million times the first 24 hours only in UK and US so the real numbers are way higher due to sales in the rest of Europe and Asia.
The release of Battlefield 3 was EA's most successful release ever so they can be very happy about this number of sales although they've lost to Modern Warfare. I personally have seen that coming.

[Solved] Battlefield 3 - Kicked by Admin

Problem: After joining a server in Battlefield 3 multiplayer, you get kicked from it instantly or after a short time with the popping message KICKED BY ADMIN.

Solution: The problem is not the admin as you might have already noticed. It's the anti-cheat tool Punkbuster that kicks you out. Follow these steps to solve the issue:

1. You have to download the latest version of the anti-cheat tool Punkbuster from their official website. Open the zip file and extract it somewhere, on your desktop for example.

2. Next you run Punkbuster by clicking on the pbsetup.exe in the extracted folder. When the Terms of Agreement appear, click I Agree.

3. When the Punkbuster program has started, click on the top left-hand corner on Add a Game and Battlefield 3.After that make sure to click on Add Game to add Battlefield 3 to the list.

4. The last thing to do is clicking on Check for Updates so Punkbuster updates for Battlefield 3 and the anti-cheat tool is up to date.

These four steps solve the kicked by admin problem many players have, thanks to for this solution.

Battlefield 3 Maps Revealed - Part Two

After these three new maps which were revealed Friday, today another four maps are presented here: Grand Bazaar, Seine Crossing, Noshahr Canals, and Kharg Island.

Grand Bazaar
This map is set in Teheran, Iran. As Russians and US Forces reach the ancient city of Teheran, they fight at this control point so tight and close urban combats can be expected by the player.

On top of that, the city is already halfway destroyed because the war here started two weeks ago so you jump right into the battle. Huge tank fights or big vehicle warfare is most likely missing here although every game mode is supported by this map. Grand Bazaar is built like a mirror, meaning both Russians and US Forces have similar bases, pathes and possibilities to climb heights to get the best view of the battlefield.

Seine Crossing
As a geographer you might know that the Seine, the river, flows through Paris. Meaning this map is set in Paris, France.

The whole of Paris is occupied by the Russians but the US Army invades the city to get it back. They fight right in Downtown in the rich and exclusive streets of Paris with tanks, smaller vehicles but also tight infantry clashes are included. Like Grand Bazaar, the map is split in the middle by the river Seine. The special: There are big pathes for tanks and other vehicles but also small alleyways for infantry, or small staircases to get into the buildings. As tank, your only chance is to blow up thw whole building.

Noshahr Canals
This battlefield is set at the Iranian coast, at the most important harbor of Iran's coast. By this Noshahr Canals, the setting of the map is very industrial and dirty.

It's cruicial for winning the war to get control over this port because of the strategically important location. Essential ressources and materials can be offloaded there and transported further into Iran. Key feature of the map is that you can fight as infantry, driving land vehicles, or fast boat gameplay.
If you play the Rush mode, you attack the map coming from a carrier ship and reach the beach by amphibious vehicles, boats, or even helicopters. So get your RPG ready!

Kharg Island
This island is the most important oil reserve and under Russian control. This export terminal must be obtained by the US to deny the access of the Russians to the oil.

As Noshahr Canals, this map features boat and other amphibious vehicle gameplay but compared to the Canals map, the map is bigger and more concepted for vehicle war. To get onto the island you have to break through a well defended beach outpost and once this goal is achieved, a beachhead must be destroyed before the map shifts further into the island.

For a review of the map Caspian Border, you can read this Battlefield 3 review.

Battlefield 3 - Three New Maps Revealed

Dice has revealed three whole new maps of Battlefield 3: Teheran Highway, Damavand Peak, and Operation Firestorm. Here they come:

Teheran Highway
This map is set in a small area of Teheran, Iran. Infantry units are fighting a real close combat fight because the streets and highways are disputed by both sides, Russia and the US.
Niklas Åstrand, the designer of the map, says:

One of the inspirations for this map was a photo of a night time skyline of Tehran which now is basically the same vista that is available in the game. You start up on the hills above the city outskirts and eventually work your way into town. This atmospheric night-time map, where you can see rockets lighting up the sky, has a balanced mix between vehicle and infantry focus. It plays length-wise and starts semi-open with plenty of room for vehicles, but ends on a much more urban and tight note with less focus on vehicles and more on infantry.

Damavand Peak
This rough and wild maps is set in cold winter mountains with strategically important radar installations, meaining this point is crucial in defending the whole area. By the way, all game modes are supported by this map.
Niklas Åstrand thoughts about DP:

Damavand Peak, internally known as Base Jump, is built on the idea that we want players to be able to base jump, and features our most extreme height differences ever in a Battlefield map. Attackers in Rush and Squad Rush will start high up on a mountain ridge above a mining facility. The only way down into the valley is to somehow make the 500 meter descent. The further the attackers progress in the map, the more vehicle warfare will be present. There is also a large tunnel section dug into the mountain side at the bottom of the map, and the view when you look up at the starting location is spectacular.

Operation Firestorm
Set in Iran, the soldiers fight at a oil station and like Damavand Peak, controlling this point means controlling the whole sector and its facilities. This map is huge and due to the desert special vehicle warfare including helicopters are included.
Niklas Åstrand describes the map:

One of our largest and most vehicle-friendly map, Operation Firestorm is the classic Battlefield gameplay taken to the extremes. Size-wise, and with some puzzle skills, you could actually place three Atacama Deserts -- one of the largest maps from Battlefield: Bad Company 2 -- within the playable area of Operation Firestorm. This is a wide-open desert map where the burning oil fields in one direction are contrasted by clear blue sky in the other direction. Construction sites dotting the area bring interesting possibilities for infantry to hide in elevated positions, spot vehicles, and take them down by mortar or RPG.

Battlefield 3 - Too Controversial?

Battlefield 3 was rated by the ESRB who say BF3 is highly voilent and controversial. Here are three main points, quoted from ESRB:

1. "characters sometimes scream and emit large splashes of blood when shot"
2. "In one sequence, a restrained character's throat is slit (off-screen)"
3. "In another, players shoot police officers to complete a mission objective."

These controversial situations where even civilians are killed, remember of the airport level scandal in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. A small reminder: You played together with a bunch of terrorist killing hundreds of civilians in and airport. Not for completing the mission but for no reason.

Some months ago, DICE made clear that there would be no civil victims in Battlefield 3.

Battlefield 3 - The Beta Tutorial

Here is an official tutorial video by EA explaining the maps, the classes, weapons and the objective in the beta. It's very useful for all interested or beta players themselves.
A second news is that Battlefield 3 Beta players on PC can now access the new map "Caspian Border". This 64 player map was already playable at the Gamescom 2011, here is a Review for this map - including tanks, helicopters and jets.

Battlefield 3 - The Battlelog Explained

Yesterday was the start of the open beta of Battlefield 3 for everyone with a Xbox, PS3 or a PC - even without key. Regarding today, the Battlelog is explained, which will replace the in-game menu of BF3 at all.

The Battlelog is a free social network just for BF3 but it can be confusing if you're new.

The huge amount of features with game creation, servers, campaigns, co-op, multiplayer statistics, weapon unlocks and upgrades are explained in this video. As said before, the Battlelog is a free social network in BF3 replacing the whole menu and can be reached in-game, using your PC, or mobile. It will ease the communication with your friends to set up a game for example. If you're a new soldier at the front, this video could help you.

Battlefield 3 - Open Beta has Started

Today the beta of Battlefield 3 has begun for PC, Playtsation 3 and Xbox 360 - exclusive for pre-order at Origin and owner of the Limited Edition of Medal of Honor. For normal people, the open beta starts the day after tomorrow, Thursday, September 29.

If you haven't already downloaded the beta via Playstation Network for example, be fast! The capacity is already at its limited but fortunately Dice is working on that.

Battlefield 3 - Multiplayer Guide

Five different multiplayer game modes will be playable at launch of Battlefield 3, for a first review, read this Battlefield 3 Review.

First of all, Conquest and Rush are back with several tweaks and additions to suit your deep and realistic fights in multiplayer. Team Deathmatch and Squad Deathmatch are included as well, especially for close quarters infantry fights and fiercely disputed, small maps.

Conquest is the last mode to add, with huge vehicle warfare as nearly unstoppable weapons - including jets, tanks, and helicopters. For clan wars and clan clashes the "Squad" modes should be prefered.
At launch, there are five different game modes and nine different maps, meaning 45 diverse options to choose between.

Battlefield 3 - The Weapon Customization

Dice explained the weapon customization in Battlefield 3 to create your own weapon of choice. BF3 will be released October 28, 2011.

On the left, the rifle has been equipped with a bipod heavy barrel, and a 4X magnification combat scope to aim for medium to long range targets, or even suppressive fire to help your team.

On the right, the scope was removed for a quick acquisition holographic scope. A suppressor and foregrip were added as well to fit your combat role and play style in small maps and close combats for example.

There are 50 weapons in Battlefield 3 with some basic values like muzzle speed, energy, and fire rate. But each gun has three main accessory slots to change. The more you play with a weapon, the more weapon accessories you'll unlock to customize your weapon to be prepared for every situation. Your arsenal contains thousands of options for different weapons to create, a 12X scope for long range snipers, or suppressors for stealth operations.

The weapon modifications include different optics, suppressors, bipods, barrels, underslung grenade launchers, underslung shotguns, flashlights, foregrips, laser sights, and even more.

I played Battlefield 3 twice at Gamescom 2011, here's the story.

Before and after the opening

The first day we went really early to Gamescom so the booth of Battlefield 3 wasn't opened yet. We made the left picture you see above. 10 AM the Gamescom opened their doors for normal people without press card and 5 minutes after the booth was very crowded, as you can see in the right picture. To entertain all the people in the queue, some EA girls gave iPad 2s to play Monopoly. The problem was that you had to wait up to eight hours to play 20 minutes of Battlefield 3. Fortunately, I just had to wait 30 minutes.

First of all the twelve minutes long Fault Line trailer was shown, followed by an instruction video of the different classes and the conquest mode. After that we were able to play on 64 PCs the multiplayer map Caspian Border in Iraq, with jets, helicopters and a lot of tanks. In my opinion, the helicopters are a bit overpowered so far because soldiers on foot could be killed in seconds without greater aiming.

Jet Flying was awesome. With speed and strength combined you had the feeling that the map wasn't limited and you would just fly over the world shooting people and helicopters. These could be taken down within seconds with the jets - without being unbalanced because against single soldiers the aiming was really tough.

Battlefield 3 will be released Octiber 27 for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.

Battlefield 3 - Mythbusters Episode 1

Battlefield 3's first episode of the famous Mythbusters series was released.

After the four episode of Mythbuster for Call of Duty: Black Ops ( Episode One -- Episode Two -- Episode Three + Four ) the first Mythbusters was released for Battlefield 3 with facts and myths about kills and weapons - in high definition.
Ever wondered if you can blind an enemy with an attached laser on your weapon? Or if you can disable enemy C4 explosives? Is it possible to shoot in your own legs? For the answers, watch the video. Battlefield 3 will be released October 27 for PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Battlefield 3 - Open Beta Details

An open beta for everyone - even without key - was confirmed by Community Manager zh1nt0 in September.

If you buy the Limited Edition of Medal of Honor, you'll get a key for the beta of Battlefield 3. This beta is a different from the open beta!
First, there will be a seperate beta for purchaser of Medal of Honor, but no exact date were mentioned. Somewhere in August is most likely.
Second, there will be an open beta for everyone interested in September, without key. Community Manager zh1nt0 said via Twitter they "confirmed that during E3 and across all platforms".

Battlefield 3 - Knife & Sniper

The killing with knives is changed from Bad Company 2. There are also changes in the multiplayer to prevent the sniper camping in BF 3.

In addition: DICE confirmed that there will be no modding tools in Battlefield 3 due to the complexity of the Frostbite 2 Engine.

The knife:
In Battlefield Bad Company 2 the player was able to kill an enemy with one single stab with the knife. The reward was a dogatag of the killed enemy, a bronze, silver, or a golden one, depending on his rank.

In Battlefield 3 only a direct stab in the back of the enemy causes an instant kill and a dogtag. If you try to stab him in the chest, you'll need two stabs to kill him but without a dogtag.

Sniper camping:
Everyone hates the sniper camper. In BC 2 the player couldn't lay down but in BF 3 he can. To prevent camping DICE implements a new feature. The rifle of every sniper, who's laying too long at the same spot, will reflect the light. So if you think you know his location perhaps, you will see his reflection which revealed his exact location.
