Diablo 3 - Official Cinematic Trailer

During the Video Game Awards 2011 Blizzard has released the official cinematic intro of Diablo 3.

This trailer for the action RPG as opening is really impressive. Unfortunately, an official release date wasn't mentioned so far by Blizzard. Amazon had listed the game - unofficially - to be released in July but the date was removed shortly after.

Diablo 3 - Console Release Is Official

It's official now. During Blizzcon 2011, Josh Mosquiera from Blizzard Entertainment has revealed that there will be a console version of Diablo 3.
A possible console version of D3 has only been a rumour - until now. After Destructoid has interviewed Josh as Blizzard's Lead Console Designer, the news was offical.

But if only three people are working on this title, the game will be released somewhere far in the future, while the PC version of Diablo 3 will be released early next year. Its official release date was changed about a month ago. Unfortunately, Blizzard denied a public beta for D3 so only PC gamers can explore the world showed by the map you see on the right.

Diablo 3 - USK 16 Rating

Diablo 3 has been rated for Germany: The game is suitable for people who are at least 16 years old relating to violent or sexual content. Due to massive blood and gore in D3 Blizzard wasn't sure whether to cut the game or release it uncut.
Fortunately, the Germans are lucky to get the whole game content with exploding zombies or burning monsters. The hack 'n' slay is now ready for a release in Germany. Although Diablo 3 is still in the progress of developing, this barriers were broken.

As said before, this is only important for Germany. The German "Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle", meaning Self-Monitoring of Entertainment Software, is like PEGI, the Pan European Game Information. They rate computer games regarding the suitability for children, from 0 to 18 years of age.

Diablo 3 - Armor Sets Detailed

There were different armor sets of each class in Diablo 3 revealed because these armor sets were found and pictured in the beta client of Diablo 3 itself.

These 23 armor sets aren't included in the beta but in the full game, while in the beta there are only one or two sets for each class. Blizzard wants to save up their content. If you wondered how your class will look like in the early or even in the late game, this is your chance to do so. My opinion is that the Barbarian looks best with his third set, and that's why I'm going to play a male Barbarian when Diablo 3 is released.

Diablo 3 - Auctions with Paypal

Blizzard confirmed the partnership with Paypal so players can buy and sell items using the Paypal service.

There are two different auction houses in Diablo 3 while the first works just as the one in World of Warcraft with in-game gold and auctions. The second one works with real money, as confirmed earlier by Blizzard, meaning players who have found rare items could either use them or sell them for 5$ for example.

Now the partnership with Paypal was revealed so players can buy and sell items using Paypal and their services. These are good news due to the security brought by Paypal. The Diablo 3 real money auction house could have been abused but now fraud is prevented.

Diablo 3 - Skill and Spell Calculator

Here is the full and official calculator for every spell and skill available in Diablo 3 - for every class.

What are the options for a build?
How many skills are included in D3?
How can I skill my wizard?
What about passive skills?
An answer to all these questions can the found in the official Skill Calculator of Diablo 3.

You are able to choose between every spell, skill, or ability available and test you favorite build or guide for your class. For example, you pick the demon hunter with her grenades, a spike trap and cluster arrow. Now the calculator shows you have to reach level 23 first to unlock all these three skills.

Furthermore, there are 13 different passive skills in Diablo 3 but you can only use three at a time. Once you reach level 10 you are able to use you first. Level 20 and 30 must be achieved to use you second, respectively all three. An example: You are level 10 so you can choose between "Brooding" or "Thrill of the Hunt" as passives.
Brooding: As long as you have not taken any damage in the last 5 seconds you gain 2% of your maximun health per second.
Thrill of the Hunt: Every 10 seconds your next normal attack will immobilize your target for 3 seconds.

Diablo 3 - How to play the Beta

Blizzard has created the FAQ for the Diablo 3 beta test, including how to join it. The Beta has started today.

1. To enter  the Diablo 3 beta test, you need an active Battle.net account with any Blizzard game title attached to it. You can create a new account if you don’t already have one.

2. Access it by visiting http://us.battle.net/en/ and clicking the Account button on the upper right.

3. Then, to opt into the beta, just click the Games & Codes section of your Account Management page, and then select the Beta Profile Settings option from the drop-down menu.

4. Next you’ll have to download the System Check beta opt-in application. Running it will get you in to the Diablo III beta. If your system may change, you can run this System Check application again to update your information.

5. Unfortunately, running the System Check doesn’t guarantee you a place in the Diablo III beta. But you have a chance, use it. Good luck.

Good thing is, the beta doesn't include any NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement), meaning if you play the beta, you can talk about it anywhere you want. The press can post any pictures or videos taken from the beta, so you are able to see brand new footage from D3 soon.

These information are directely from Blizzard, the FAQs can be founds there as well, see us.battle.net.

[Review] Gamescom 2011 - Diablo 3

I was lucky to play Diablo III twice at Gamescom 2011 with every character.

First, I chose the Demon Hunter to battle through the fitst dungeon, which looked like the picture above but with more fire creatures, for example the "Inferno Zombie". The demon hunter had a Damage-Over-Time single arrow, including 125% weapons damage, and an explosion arrow, which really blowed the zombie's head off, and after a level up I could learn the Multishot to shoot at several enemies with a single ability. So far, the demon hunter uses Mana like the Wizard.

The Barbarian was pretty slow and agressive to play with high damage but slow attack speed and movement speed, just like you would imagine him to play.

The Wizard had the most damage output but with very low hit points to survive. After a Frost Nova you could explode the area around you to send the zombies back to hell or you were able to shoot with your wand at a single target.

The Witch Doctor was the easiest character to play with his pets. You could create them from corpses and send them to attack your enemy and you were shooting with poisoned arrows, no problem to survive a huge number of enemies.

The Monk is an excellent melee fighter with his skills to kill several enemies at once. There were no problem to survive ten Inferno Zombies or more without even noticing getting any critical damage.

Finishing the Inquisitor as final boss completed your quest and you went on fighting at the surface. After some bridges like above you entered "Leoric's Hold", the next dungeon which had a lot of prison cells and ghosts in them. To free them you just had to unlock the doors and fight the final endboss of the dungeon, the Warden. Unfortunately, this was the end of the Gamescom 2011 demo of Diablo 3.

Diablo 3 Beta Details

Tomorrow, Monday, May 9th at 1:30 pm Pacific Time (4:30 pm Eastern Time), Blizzard will reveal the first details about the Diablo 3 Beta.

At that time, Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime talks about the beta of Diablo 3 during the Activision Blizzard First Quarter 2011 Financial Results conference call. What these details are about, is unknown. Most likely a date for the start of the beta and the ways to sign up for it are revealed. Everyone hopes for a public beta but Blizzard will definetly first make an intern beta testing for their "friends & family", meaning Blizzard's employees.
February 9, 2011 Mike Morhaime said, during the Q4 2010 Results conference call, that details of Diablo III beta would be shown at the next conference call, which takes place tomorrow.
