The Sims 4 - Playable Offline

Electronic Arts and Maxis have revealed their newest project - The Sims 4. The game will be released in 2014 for PC and Mac, the exact date is unknown so far.

One of the most popular game series, The Sims, gets another sequel including new houses, decorations, people, animations, interactions, in short: everything the fans love their Sims for. Do you remember playing The Sims for hours building a house, and just set furniture in is as if it's your own house?

One of the best news is that The Sims 4 can be played completely offline, meaning you don't have to have a permanent internet connection to play, which is great! EA has shocked many fans with SimCity because the players were forced to play it online the whole time due to copyright piracy of the game. But even players who bought the game legally wished to play it offline, maybe on their laptop somewhere without WiFi.

However, the news are great that The Sims at least can be played offline.

Counter Strike 2 - Beta Gameplay

Counter Strike 2, also known as Counter Strike: Global Offensive, has started its closed beta yesterday. This is new footage of real gameplay taken from the beta.

Counter Strike: Global Offensive is a whole new game but the gameplay of CS will stay the same. It's a very team based shooter including new maps, weapons, game modes, characters, rakings and matchmaking services.

Valve developes Counter Strike: Global Offensive together with Hidden Path Entertainment and CS:GO will be released in early 2012. There will be a version of the game for PC, Mac, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 featuring the DualShock 3, the PlayStation Move Controller, and even mouse and keyboard on PS3.

In my opinion, the gameplay footage looks really good. The graphics may not be as good as in Battlefield 3 but who cares? It's CS as everyone loves it, fast, close combats with the AK or other weapons, and graphics are negligible. Look at CS 1.6. Low graphics but awesome gameplay and great for pro players and clan wars.

DotA 2 - The Release

Valve has announced that their DotA 2 will be released this year, meaning late 2011, for PC and Mac.

DotA 2 will be first shown to public at the Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, 2011. A huge DotA 2 tournament for the 16 best teams of the world takes place there, too, and the prize will be one million US-Dollar for the winner.
I will travel to Cologne to watch this tournament, for everyone else it will be streamed in four different languages: German, English, Chinese and Russian.

For people who don't know what DotA is about: DotA stands for Defense of the Ancients, it's a custom map from Warcraft III – Reign of Chaos and its expansion, Warcraft III – The Frozen Throne. The date of the first appearance was sometime in 2003. A summary of its history and gameplay can be found here: Defense of the Ancients
