Modern Warfare 3 - First DLC In January

Infinity Ward was announced that the first DLC for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be released on January 24, 2012. The pack will also include content for Spec Ops.

Robert Bowling from Infinity Ward added at the Call of Duty: Elite show that this date is only for Xbox 360 players with a premium membership of CoD: Elite.
About one whole month later, PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360 players without premium membership can download the package. Robert explained that this downloadable content will include several things the fans have never seen before, such as content for Spec Ops. Unfortunately, further details are unknown yet, so exact content and price will be revealed in January.
Certainly, the pack contains some new maps, I think.

Electronic Arts has revealed the number of sales of Battlefield 3 which reached the eight million mark. As a comparison, Modern Warfare 3 sold 6.5 million units on its first day.

This information was given by Eric Brown, the Chief Financial Officer of Electronic Arts, during the Baird Technology Conference in San Francisco yesterday.

Twelve million units were sold to the retailers but 'only' eight million were sold so far. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was sold 6.5 million times the first 24 hours only in UK and US so the real numbers are way higher due to sales in the rest of Europe and Asia.
The release of Battlefield 3 was EA's most successful release ever so they can be very happy about this number of sales although they've lost to Modern Warfare. I personally have seen that coming.

Modern Warfare 3 - 6.5 Million Copies

Modern Warfare 3 was sold 6.5 million times on its first day - only in UK and US. That's the biggest entertainment launch in history.

Call of Duty knows what 'biggest entertainment launch in history' means. Looking back:
  • 2009: Modern Warfare 2 sold 4.7 million units, making $310 million the first day
  • 2010: Black Ops sold 5.6 million units, making $360 million its first day
  • 2011: Modern Warfare 3 sold 6.5 million copies, generating $400 million its first 24 hours
There has never been another entertainment franchise, except for Call of Duty, that has set release day world records three years in a row, said Bobby Kotick, the boss of Activision. These numbers only regard the US and UK market but there has also been millions of sold copies in Asia and in the rest of Europe. At least, there are 6.5 million and 1 units sold so far because I've bought Modern Warfare 3 myself.

MW3 was released worldwide on Tuesday for PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and even Wii, which version was made by Treyarch.

Modern Warfare 3 - The Survival Mode

This new gameplay video shows the Spec-Ops Survival Mode of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - set in Paris, France. The Survival Mode is easy to explain: You fight against waves of enemies, the longer you last, the better you score.

Most likely, this mode will replace a campaign co-op mode although I would personally prefer co-op. By the way, the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be set in twelve different cities all around the world, besides Paris there are New York, London, Berlin, and even the famous Dubai as last mission included.

CoD: MW3 will be released November 8 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. However, further information and impression of the survival mode can be seen in the video below.

Modern Warfare 3 - Steam Support

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be fully supported by Steam, meaning you're forced to use Steam on PC.

Valve has confirmed the news, that Modern Warfare 3 will be Steam only on PC. So Activision has decided to cooperate with Valve, unlike Electronic Arts who stopped all their cooperation with them.
MW3 will feature Steamworks, too, meaning the game can be pre-ordered via Steam to pre-download it. That means you can instantly play on release day and patches will be downloaded automatically as well.

Disadvantage is, if Steam is offline or similar, the player can't start the game. Further will VAC be used as anti cheat tool.

Good news is, that Modern Warfare 3 will support dedicated servers. MW3 will be released November 8 for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

Modern Warfare 3: Color-Blind Mode

A Color Blind Assist option for Modern Warfare 3 was announced by Sledgehammer Games, the game development studio of Activision, so players will have the same chances in multiplayer.

Michael Condrey, Vice President and COO of Sledgehammer Games, has answered a community question about a pissible color-blind mode in Modern Warfare 3.

So they implement a Color Blind Assist option for Modern Warfare 3 so you can play even with a red–green color blindness without disadvantages. A lot of players will thank him because not many games have such an option.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be released November 8, 2011.
