The famous Minecraft was modified for Windows Phone 7. It's not the original game because it was develpoed by Candy Rufus Games but the gameplay is the same.

This app for Windows Phone 7 is called Survivalcraft and, as said before, it was developed by Kaalus from Candy Rufus Games. Survivalcraft is based on Minecraft regarding its graphics and gameplay though Survivalcraft is only in alpha status.

For everyone undecided, there is a test version of Survivalcraft in the marketplace so people can play the full game for a limited period only. Thereafter, if you're interested in the game, the price was set to 1,99 Euro. As a comparison, Minecraft for PC costs 19,95 Euro.

My Review of Survivalcraft:
I've downloaded the game for my Windows Phone and played couple of hours. First thing so say is that Survivalcraft can compete with Minecraft if you consider it as alpha version of a newly developed game.
The main gameplay is the same, you can mine blocks like stone, soil, or wood to build a shelter for the night for example. Crafting is also included in the game although not every recipe of the full released Minecraft was taken to Survivalcraft - unfortunately. The maps are beautiful as in the original and you even get the same addiction as playing the original Minecraft because you can build whatever you want. This principle made Minecraft famous and is for Survivalcraft a guarantee of success, too.
However, the game is still in alhpa version as said before but updates are coming. Some new tools and blocks are added and other features like a screenshot function is a nice addition for the game.
All in all, I'd say that Survivalcraft has potential. The developer managed to get me addicted to the game because I'm a huge Minecraft fan as well and there is no competition for a Windows Phone 7.

For everyone with an iPhone: The original Minecraft app costs around 6 Euro and can be downloaded in the AppStore.

MineCon - Watch The Livestream

The guys from IGN set up a livestream at the MineCon in Las Vegas. For everyone who can't be there, this live stream of the event must be enough: Link to the Stream at IGN.

Live at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, Markus 'Notch' Persson will give a keynote speech about Minecraft and thereafter, the launch of the game is celebrated. The keynote begins in about three hours, meaning 4 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST).
If you can't watch the stream, no problem: IGN will upload the whole MineCon live stream. By the way, all tickets were sold out months ago.
Today, the official Minecon has opened its doors to celebrate the release of Minecraft. For anyone who doesn't know about Minecraft's very own fair, visit this MineCon site.

Mojang has released the official Minecraft version for iOS today, too, meaning iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. The game can be downloaded in the AppStore for 5,49 €, but beware: This version is not like with the PC version because there is a huge lack of features.

You can't really mine any blocks and can't build any objects. The whole survival mode including all monsters like spider or skeletons is missing, so this iOS and Android version is comparable to the first Alpha version of the original PC version of Minecraft. If this doesn't scare you, you should buy Minecraft via AppStore. For everyone else, just get the PC version for 20 €.

EA wants to buy Minecraft

Electronic Arts are interesting in buying Mojang, the developer of Minecraft.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EA, John Riccitiello, met Markus "Notch" Persson in Sweden to offer him a deal. EA wants to buy Mojang, like they have already bought the game developer PopCap Games.
Markus "Notch" Persson said in an interview with Develop-Online that he has no interest in this deal at all. Their both intentions were way too different to work together, although Notch likes EA's games and would play them, too. The deal is off.
